Cathy Rosebaugh-Jennings created Alterna Home Solutions solely to assist people 50 and better with their unique real estate needs. Cathy has an extensive background in marketing and public relations and has been in the real estate industry for nearly 20 years. Prior to forming Alterna, she was the director of marketing and community relations with Regency Development Associates. In this capacity, she was responsible for all corporate and property-specific marketing and public relations activities. Cathy acted as the company liaison for national partnerships and as the event coordinator for the Regency Forum, the largest industry conference of its kind. While at Regency, the company was named the #1 Affordable Housing Developer in the United States by Builder magazine. Her experience also includes a 12-year career as director of marketing for Highwoods Properties, a regional commercial real estate company headquartered in Raleigh.

Cathy is a licensed Real Estate Broker in North Carolina and Virginia and has achieved the Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) designation from the Society of Certified Senior Advisors as well as the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation from the Senior Advantage Real Estate Council. She also received the distinguished Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) designation from the National Association of Home Builders. Cathy is one of fewer than 15 Realtor recipients of this certification in the country and the only Realtor designee in North Carolina. The CAPS designation is a program that teaches the strategies and techniques needed for marketing, designing, and building aesthetically enriching, barrier-free living environments for those aging in place. This specialized training strengthens Alterna’s ability to advise seniors whether it is a better financial decision to adapt their current home to age in place or to sell it and move to a retirement community.

She currently serves as President of the Senior Resource Alliance of the Triangle, served as President for the Chapel Hill and Durham Eldercare Resources (CHADER) networking organization during 2006/07 and is a member of the National Association of Realtors, North Carolina Association of Realtors and Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors. Cathy is also active in the community, serving as a Board member with the Center for Volunteer Caregiving, on the Triangle Advisory Board of Second Chance Pet Adoptions and as a member of the City of Raleigh Senior Corps Advisory Council.

In 2008, Cathy was recognized by Triangle Business Journal with the prestigious Women in Business Award and honored by Business Leader magazine as an Impact Women Business Owners Award recipient. She is regularly quoted as an expert locally and regionally, and has written several articles on retirement living options for boomers and retirees.
